More Hair Talk

What is your regular hair routine? Is it super simple or do you have many steps? How often do you wash your hair, do you shampoo it at all? Tell me everything!

Since trying to make up for my years of neglect and recovering from my super stress shedding, my routine has possibly become a little overboard. Clearly I don’t have much going on in my life.

My schedule: I wash my hair 1-2 times a week. Sundays, depending on how gross it feels, I might wash it with a sulfate free shampoo and condition it. Mid week, I cover it in coconut oil for 2-4 hours, then I wash it out with Nioxin and condition it. I always use my shampoo brush to make sure I get my scalp really clean and free of any product, and I only condition from my ears down. I towel dry with a T-shirt, coat it in leave-in conditioner, and blowdry it halfway with a regular dryer and use a box fan to finish the drying process.

Every day after work, I comb out tangles with a wide toothed comb and brush it with a boar bristle brush. Before bed, I’ll braid it, put it up in a scrunchie bun, or tie up a loose ponytail and use flexi rods to curl the ends. I sleep in a silk bonnet, but it only stays on 50% of the time.

In the mornings, I let my hair down and either just finger comb or wide tooth comb to neaten it. If I’m a little oily I’ll give it a shot of dry shampoo and brush through it a bit. But mostly I just tame some flyaways with come conditioner or hairspray depending on how stubborn it is.

This all sounds so much more complicated when I write it all out!
